Plot
Wealthy Washington suburbanites Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem to have it all—until Marissa is unfaithful. Beneath their veneer of perfection is a relationship riven by work and a lack of intimacy. She wants to repair things for the sake of their eight-year-old son and because she loves her husband. Enter Avery Chambers.
Avery is a therapist who lost her professional license. Still, it doesn’t stop her from counseling those in crisis, though they have to adhere to her unorthodox methods. And the Bishops are desperate.
When they glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

My review
Likes
- I liked Avery, the therapist and that she lost her license doing what she thought was right and has now found a way to help more people honestly
- Romeo the dog! So glad she rescued him
- The beginning was suspenseful for me and a little creepy, keeping me on my toes with stalkers
Dislikes
- I really didn’t like Penny’s character, it was weird with her sleeping in the store?.. but I also didn’t really like Marissa’s character either. She didn’t seem to have a whole lot of personality
- It seemed there were a lot of characters and semi-convoluted plot lines to follow

Skip is the person that Marissa slept with. He had a crush on her when they were teenagers but Matthew asked him to not pursue her in exchange for providing him an alibi the night her friend was murdered. Matthew ended up being the killer of her best friend. He also knew about the affair the whole time and was pretending to be a good husband, and then set it up to make it look like Skip killed her and then he killed Skip. Avery ended up being there and kills Matthew instead. Matthew’s dad Chris also hired Skip to investigate Avery as part of the pharmacy scandal. Matthew asked Penny to keep an eye on Marissa and paid her for information, she thought that he was just taking good care of her.
