It’s been a pretty typical week over here, with a few bumps along the way (and a serious lack of workouts, oops!).
Monday: We kicked off the week with a return to normalcy as Joel came back from his trip to Texas in the mid-afternoon. It was nice to have him back home, settling back into our routine after his travels.
Tuesday: Tuesday was a bit more hectic. Joel was starting to feel the pressure at work due to the ongoing port strike, which added a layer of stress to his days. Meanwhile, our little Miles had his kindergarten screening in the morning. I stayed home with him for a bit before heading over, and thankfully, everything went smoothly. The screening was just a few blocks from our house, which made the morning run a breeze. Miles was thrilled to play with his monster trucks in the hallway while we waited. To celebrate, we grabbed breakfast at McDonald’s before I took him to school. It was a sweet start to the day amidst the underlying tension at work. We ended the day after work with a family walk in the wagon, enjoying the crisp temperatures.
Wednesday: Midweek brought a mix of family and social activities. The kids had swimming lessons after daycare, which Joel was able to take them to. With the stress of the strike, he didn’t get to go a little early to swim with the kiddos, which I’m sure was a bummer to everyone. After work, I headed to a cider bar for the SWE-MN open house. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new people.
Thursday: Thursday was a bit of a “meh” day for me—nothing particularly exciting or reason to be down… yet, meh. late in the afternoon, I received a call that Miles needed to be picked up due to some tummy issues. This meant he had to stay home for the next 24 hours. The kids kept themselves entertained by running around in the backyard while I wrapped up work. Joel was at pickleball til late. After getting the kids to bed, I treated myself to a an evening of washing my hair and doing a nice rage cleaning to make up for the meh feelings of the day….

Friday: Friday was packed with an all-day work meeting at the airport, which meant waking up bright and early. With Miles staying home, I had to drop Hailey off at daycare, even though Miles seemed fine. After the meeting, I swung by the mall to meet Joel to do a kid hand off and give Joel a break from parenting duties and headed to the expo to pick up my packet for the upcoming 10-mile run. Miles absolutely loved the expo, especially the candy bowls! It was great catching up with friends, and we even found a fantastic garage sale where I couldn’t resist buying too many toys. We ended the day playing on the driveway, enjoying some pizza, and resting up for the weekend. Despite some meltdowns from all four of us, bedtime brought much-needed relief.

One Noteworthy Change: Saying Goodbye to the reMarkable Paper Pro
Amidst the usual week-to-week activities, I made a significant decision: I returned my reMarkable Paper Pro. After some reflection, I realized it wasn’t worth the investment just to “like” something. For those interested, I’ve written a review of the reMarkable Paper Pro that you can check out. I am keeping the reMarkable 2, now that… I love!
All in all, it was a pretty normal week filled with the usual ups and downs of family life and work. We’re looking forward to a weekend of fitness with Twin Cities Marathon events going on as well as some family visits – pending everyone staying healthy!
