We took off from Minneapolis to head to Sioux Falls right after lunch on Friday. Miles had stayed home from daycare due to a fever the day before, but was not showing any signs of being sick.. We got to Sioux Falls and the kids immediately started playing. Miles loved the light sabers and was enjoying hitting everyone and making a “pshhhhh” noise as he did it.
We ordered dinner and tried to get the kids to bed. Hailey did not want to stay in bed. When I finally came downstairs, she had toys lined up in the hall while she was laying the room so she could see what she was doing but still be in the room. Silly child.

Saturday morning – we all were up relatively early so went over to Mom’s hotel to eat breakfast with her before Joel’s tournament while Andrea and Charlie slept in. After breakfast, I ran into Target to buy some new shoes and some clothes that I forgot to pack (my shoes that I had worn smelled HORRIBLE…they went in the trash). We went to a park for a bit and then dropped Joel off at his tournament.
I took the kiddos to grab some coffee and then we met Andrea and Charlie at another park and played for a bit. It was pretty hot out! Miles also kept falling off everything and having a rough morning.. We went to Costco to get groceries for dinner and snacks and then to eat lunch in their food court. We decided to do an impromptu birthday dinner for Hailey that night since Andrea and Toby and family won’t be able to come to her bday party (baby is coming soon!!).
After we ate, Andrea took Miles back to the house to put him down for a nap and I took Hailey and Charlie to pick some thing up off of Facebook Marketplace (a present for her party that night and some clothes for my baby niece). After driving around in the car, we went to watch Joel’s tournament for a bit. The kiddos got snacks from the vending machine and ran around a bit. They watched stuff on my phone. My mom met us there for a bit after she got back to town from her family reunion. Andrea joined us for a bit with Miles, and then it got hectic. Three kiddos running around were a little bit of chaos. My mom went back to her room to nap a bit before dinner, she wasn’t feeling too great. She ended up giving us a scare when we couldn’t get ahold of her due to her phone dying..

We made tacos and had lots of fruit for Hailey’s birthday dinner. We sang happy birthday to Hailey with her birthday cheesecake we had picked up at Costco. The kids didn’t really eat much of it but it sure was yummy! The kiddos LOVED playing with all the ‘new’ toys that she got from Andrea and Toby and family. They stayed up way too late playing with the toys but they got to see daddy when he got home.

Joel won his pickleball tournament. They didn’t get started until around lunchtime so it made for a long day. They went undefeated in their 5 pool play games (1 game to 11). That put them as the number one seed. They won their first couple of games (1 game to 15) in bracket play to get to the semis, but then lost to another Minnesota team to drop them to the Bronze match. It was a double elimination tournament, so they were able to work their way back. The Bronze match was a 2 out of 3 to 11, which they won to get back to the championship game. In order to win the whole thing, they would need to win 2 out of 3 to 11 AND then one game to 15. THEY DID IT. I was so thankful that another Minnesota person was there and was messaging me every point update! it was so awesome to follow along while eating dinner. It was Joel’s biggest pay out to date for a tournament.
We got to watch 3 of the pool play games and their first game in bracket play before we had to head out to get dinner going.

Sunday morning, we met my mom at Original Pancake House for breakfast. The kids did not have the best morning… Hailey didn’t want to eat anything, Miles fell backwards with the chair, lots of crying… it was a little stressful.
After breakfast, Joel took Charlie and Miles back to the house and then to try out some pickleball (Miles broke one of the paddles by hitting it on the ground – but isn’t he adorable doing it?!). Andrea, Hailey and I went and picked up Lily to hang out and do a little shopping. We went to HyVee to get her some donuts and coffee (smoothies) and then to Target for some shopping. She picked out a candle and a few other things for her room and a lego set. Hailey had fun seeing her!
We dropped her back off at her house and then went back to Andrea’s to get ready to head home to Minnesota. Toby was at the house when we got back so we got to see him for a little while! Miles slept for part of the drive home and then they watched the tablets the rest of the way. They got a little antsy close to home and started fighting so we were definitely happy to get home.
I can’t wait to head back down there when I have a baby niece to visit!!
