Book-a-Day Countdown Day 29 | The Sprint Finish

Today is Day 29 of the Book-a-Day Countdown to 2026. (For all prompts, view this post)

The Prompt: The Sprint Finish.

The Definition: A book I devoured in one sitting. Short, and fun.

The Book:

The Salmon Cannon and the Levitating Frog: And Other Serious Discoveries of Silly Science by Carly Anne York.

My Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Sometimes people look at scientific studies and ask, “Why are we paying for this?” This book helps answers that question. It’s a good reminder that innovation doesn’t always look serious at first. Sometimes it looks like a frog floating in a magnetic field. Working in early research and technology, this one was great to help answer some of the questions that get asked about why we are funding things that aren’t revenue generating right now, or don’t seem like they have direct impact right away, but those are sometimes the things that can be the most impactful in the future.

This book was fun and it was a really quick read!
