Christmas Eve, I got to snuggle with Miles a little bit and read my book before Hailey woke up. Joel went to pickleball and I got the kiddos ready to go to the indoor play place. We picked up Sheri and grabbed some coffee on the way. We had two different friends join in! It was so much fun and great to get the kiddos running around

Unfortunately, the kiddos didn’t think it was very important to nap. We went to Joel’s parents house for our annual Christmas Eve snackathon after the kids were up and moving. Such a fun tradition, my family also used to do snack/appetizers on Christmas Eve. We got the kids to bed at Joel’s parents house and hung out and chatted a little bit before we went down to bed early. Joel slept in the room with Miles and I slept in the room with Hailey – I thought it would be a better trade for me since Hailey sometimes sleeps in… no go! She was up during the night and ended up in the bed with me. Then she was up at 4 and 5… She thought it was fun to pull individual strands of my hair. I was able to at least get her to lay with me until about 6.
We had coffee and started the morning off with cartoons. I ran to the house to get some cookie sheets so that the Christmas morning cinnamon rolls could rise. Sheri worked on those and we hung out until Joel’s sisters got there around 10am. We had cinnamon rolls and opened presents. Hailey LOVED opening presents and Miles was super into it this year as well. Miles loved playing with all of the balls, Hailey loved to play with anything and everything – especially if Miles was playing with it. She got a fun tea set, a cash register, among other awesome toys that she has loved playing with. She really loves the baby doll she got. Miles loved the pickeball he got and the toy steering wheel set (although, Hailey took that over rather quickly). They loved all of the things they got, but I think what they loved most was the attention and all of the people that were there to play with them.
The kiddos went down to nap. Miles did not nap. It was the first time he has ever skipped his nap! He was doing somersaults in the pack n play! He was in a great mood though, surprisingly.
Joel’s uncle and cousin came over for a bit for a late lunch – a baked potato bar! We played a fun trivia game that Joel’s sister brought over. People started to trickle home, and we headed out a little after everyone else – Joel’s parents let us rest a little upstairs without the kiddos for a little breather.
Christmas Day was once again magical. I am thankful we got to do a combined Thanksgiving/Christmas with my family as well! It definitely looked different from last year, so thankful no one got a tummy bug and had to miss the festivities! (Last year’s post)

We weren’t quite as lucky Christmas night. We got things put away and got kids to bed… but Miles woke up a couple of hours after he went to bed and it was one of the worst times we have had getting him back to bed. He wanted to be held, he wanted hugs, he needed consoling. He was crying so hard it sounded like he was choking and gasping for air. Joel tried to get him to sleep for a long time… I went in there and struggled to get him to bed and ended up just hugging him through the crib until he calmed down. I laid on the floor next to his crib for a bit and shushed him when he would look for me. He finally fell asleep and I crawled out of the room as quietly as I could.
The next morning, the kids didn’t have daycare and we were both off work. Joel and his dad took the kids to the indoor play place and I got to have a relaxing couple of hours at home alone — it was glorious. I read, picked up toys downstairs, and took a bath. I got to do a 30 minute treadmill run when the kids took a nap. After nap, we all watched Frozen for a little bit. It was the first time that Hailey has been into a movie! She loved the Elsa song (Let it Go). Joel headed off to pickleball and I took the kids to Target and then Cub. The rest of the evening was uneventful, except I couldn’t fall asleep. I watched TV until about 10 and then read my book for a while after that. Thankfully, I have the whole week off so I at least get to rest 🙂

I somehow missed that you moved your blog to a different url so I wasn’t getting your posts in my feedly! So now I am catching up! The indoor play place looks amazing. I just texted you about meeting up there in January. Would love to see you and get our kids together!!
Your Christmas sounds great aside from the sleep issues! Will missed his nap on Thanksgiving and then fell asleep on my mom at 4. And then basically screamed for 2+ hours straight until he went to bed that night. It was awful. I was very happy to not be traveling for Christmas. We love to sleep in our own beds and NOT share rooms with the kids! Well, Paul is easy to share a room with. Will is NOT!
