Disney Vacation | Day 0 | Travel Day

The first day of our Disney adventure started with a whirlwind of last-minute packing. Joel took the kids to Lifetime with Gary, which gave me some much-needed time to get things done—though it also meant skipping my long run. Priorities!

Mid-morning, I made a Target run to grab new headphones for Miles since his had mysteriously vanished. While I was there, I grabbed Jimmy John’s for lunch for some easy clean up food. The kids split a Little John, just ham and bread, keeping it simple…

Around 12:30, Joel’s uncle arrived to take us to the airport, and we loaded up the car. We got to the airport almost three hours early because I’d rather have extra time than be stressed. Everything was smooth—until we checked in our bags and the car seat slipped, smacking poor Miles right in the face. Not the best start, but he bounced back quickly.

Security was a breeze, less than five minutes, which felt like a small travel miracle. With all that extra time to spare, we walked over to Concourse C so the kids could burn off energy in the play area. They ran around and climbed on the equipment, it’s a small play area but perfect for playing. For dinner, we grabbed Buffalo Wild Wings and Firehouse Subs to eat on the plane, although the kids barely touched their food.

Boarding went smoothly, and the kids were absolute champs on the flight, glued to their TVs and tablets the whole way. No mid-air meltdowns—huge win!

We landed, collected our bags and rental car, and finally made it to the house around 10 p.m. But, of course, getting the kids to actually sleep was another story. Hailey was up multiple times—scared, then complaining her ears hurt, then deciding she just wanted to go home. Not exactly the restful first night we’d hoped for so we were all excited for some coffee the next morning.
