The kiddos did not want to sleep and were wound up from the day’s travel. Hailey was up multiple times and then I forgot to turn off the green lights on the kids’ Hatch alarm clocks, so at precisely 6:30 a.m., they were up—and not quietly, either. The whole house woke up with them, and in the chaos, Joel managed to break the baby gate. So, you know, a normal start to the day….
We decided to head out for some delicious breakfast and ended up at First Watch, which was delicious as always. I always loved going there when I lived in Kansas City, and have enjoyed it when we visit my parents in Florida as well. The banana nut pancakes are always a go to! After fueling up, we made a grocery run to Publix, which grocery shopping with the kids always turns into an event of its own. The kids each picked out Mickey and Minnie hats, and we grabbed some sushi they made fresh at the counter for lunch. We then made a stop at Walmart to replace the broken baby gate.

Once back at the house, we put groceries away and finally got to what we had all been waiting for—pool time! The kids enjoyed splashing and playing while we soaked up the sunshine. The pool was not warm yet, and the kids definitely looked COLD. Joel and I walked the kids to the park in the facility and let the kids run around and climb. The sun felt warm!

After a little rest, we headed to the resort’s water park, where the water was cold but still fun. Miles was heartbroken to discover he wasn’t tall enough for the water slides. Thankfully, the regular pool was still a hit (and way warmer!), and things got even better once we got the kids into floaties. Way less stressful!

Miles eventually hit a wall of exhaustion and flopped onto one of the lounge chairs, which he adorably called his “laying chair.“ Hailey and Miles made the most of the sand volleyball court right before we left, digging and playing like it was their own personal beach. Sand. Everywhere.
After a full day of fun, we headed back to the house for baths and showers before dinner. We ordered Indian takeout (which was amazing) and made a quick run to pick it up. Of course, we also grabbed Burger King for the kids, who had already filled up on Frosted Mini-Wheats and barely touched their real food.

Bedtime was smooth —exhaustion worked in our favor, and both kids were asleep almost as soon as their heads hit the pillow and didn’t wake up at all during the night. A perfect end to a fun-filled day and great to get them well rested for Disney the next day!
