Expectations

I ran my first flat half marathon in a year this morning.  I haven’t been training nor have I been as excited about running as when I ran my last year.  I still ran a 1:53:57, which is a pretty respectable time… 5 minutes off of my PR.  I realized though that I have really high expectations of myself, probably too high.  I have not been putting in the work to run my best.. not eating right, not doing my weekday runs.  I have so many distractions (not a valid excuse) – work, class, wanting to try new things.  I am glad I have high expectations of myself, but I need to be more realistic.  I am finishing my races strong, that should be the most important thing…..

Finished!

  1. I think that's a respectable time, but what do I know about running? I do think realistic expectations are good though. Keep that in mind!
