First Weekend in Our New Home!

It was so fun to start the long weekend (I took PTO on Friday) with a long run! I made a neighbor friend and she needed to get 10 miles in, so I decided to attempt to go with her. I made it the whole way but the last 3 miles, I was definitely dragging!

Joel wanted to get the kitchen and living room put together so the house was a little less chaos, so we focused on that since we were both off of work for the day. It’s starting to look more like a home instead of just boxes!

Friday evening, we had a pizza party at our next door neighbors house. There were 8 kids there but felt like barely any because they were just playing and entertaining each other. It was amazing! We got the kiddos to bed (barely.. that’s been so tough with the new house) and watched a little TV.

Saturday, Joel had to last minute change up his plans for pickleball since it started to rain a little bit. I took the kiddos on a bike ride and a stroller walk through the little woods by our house. We got eaten alive by mosquitos. Joel’s dad came over to help him get his garage gym put together. It turned out great! Even if it was a little sketchy with them getting the pull up bar hung from the ceiling.

I took the kids to the library that just reopened from construction over by our house. They had snow cones and a kids band. The kiddos had fun and checked out a book. We grabbed noodles and company for lunch and then got a text from one of the kiddos friends dad. We met up with them at the trampoline park for an hour. They had so much fun tearing around together!

After the trampoline park and a quick stop at Target, I started some pizza dough while Joel took the kiddos over to our neighbor across the pond’s house. We hung out there for a bit until Joel had to take the kiddos over to the gym for Parent’s Night Out. We were going to unpack but ended up doing homemade pizza and our friends came over to chat and eat with us. Joel went and got the kids and I cleaned up the kitchen and tried to get the kiddos to bed at a reasonable time.

Sunday morning, I went and did 4 miles with Moms on the Run. Joel took the kids to the gym so I could have the house to myself for a while to get some things unpacked. When he got back, we fed the kiddos on the deck. Joel left for pickleball and I ended up in our neighbors front yard, the kids playing with bubbles. Our friends came over (the same ones from the day before) and we ran around with them and went to the park. When we got back to the house, our neighbors invited us all over to play in their big blow up water slide thing. We hung out for an hour or so before having to get ready to go meet other friends from daycare for dinner.

We headed to the restaurant near our old house we used to always go to on Sunday nights. 6 kids, 5 adults, all the chaos. All the kiddos were tired from the long weekend so were definitely on the bubble of melt downs. We survived the dinner with only a few tears and some good company.

It was a jam packed weekend but we are so thankful for the community we have been welcomed into!

  1. I’m so impressed you have already made friends with people on your block! That always takes us quite awhile. We have made some friends and I had a running partner for awhile but they moved to the suburbs a couple of years ago and I don’t have a new running buddy unfortunately. Great job on 10 miles!!
