1. I have my first appointment to get my hair extensions moved up. It’s been 8 weeks since I got them put in and I still love them! I’ve never been able to have long hair because my hair is just so thin and never really grew past my shoulders. I feel a lot more confident with my hair looking the way it does, instead of seeing all the things wrong with my body, etc. when I look in a mirror, it’s the first things I see and makes me happy and in a better place than immediately negative thoughts. I also got new glasses at my eye appointment last week, they should be in today or Monday. I splurged and got myself some prescription sunglasses to wear. I also trialed new contacts, but eyes get so tired by the end of the day wearing those.

2. Our house is a mess. Normally, we’re (mostly Joel) are pretty good at keep in cleaned up, but both of us have been in a bit of a slump lately so haven’t been on top of things as much. I looked into a cleaning service to come help get things a really nice slate for us to work off of.. but WHEW they are expensive. We used to have someone come once a month when each of the kids were little for about 6 months after each of the kids were born just to help since raising babies is hard.. and it was half the cost from the ones we got quotes from this time. I’m going to try to tackle a different room the rest of my days off… Peep the picture – I LOVE when the kids play together, and I am a sucker for getting them new toys, especially free ones on Facebook Buy Nothing group (although I went off social media the day after the election and have never felt better about that decision..). There are just so many THINGS around the house, and we have plenty of storage for them, but we put them away and then immediately they’re dumped out again.. I need to get better about having the kids pick up their toys more each day to help with that…
3. I’m on day 3 of being (kind of) off. Wednesday, I was a blob! It was lovely and just what I needed. I laid around on the couch and read and watched cozy mysteries on Hallmark+. I walked to the library and back to drop off books. Yesterday, I went in to the office for the afternoon because I had a lunch scheduled that had been rescheduled so many times. I also had a Lean In Circle kick off – it’s a really cool thing our company does through our Women’s Network Employee Resource Group. Once a year they have 2 leaders (male or female) for each circle and 10 women (it’s open to men now and I actually have a male in my group this time). The circles have themes and we meet once a month about topics related to the themes. Last year, my group was Parents of Pre-Elementary Aged Kids. That was super helpful to spend time during work talking about ways to manage kids and work. This year’s is Innovation, which is a cool topic and will be interesting to see how it shakes out. My company has 95,000+ employees so it’s fun to have people in the groups that I would never interact with otherwise.
4. We don’t have much for plans this weekend. Joel is going to play pickleball. Hailey has her conferences tomorrow morning. I want to get a run in, trying to decide if I should go to running club on Sunday or just run from my house since I’m not going very far anymore… I have two running clubs that meet on Sunday for their long run.. One is moms on the run, which is super close to my house too so I might join them. The other meets all over the cities so I like to join that one to mix up the scenery and get out of my area. I’m leaning towards that one, but I’ll spend more time in the car than I will spend running..
5. WHY IS TRYING TO MAINTAIN HEALTHY HABITS SO HARD?! I tracked really well the first week when I started trying to get back to better habits. I didn’t last week with our group offsite. This week, I started to and then…. didn’t. I am going to track again today and try to keep going and give myself a pass on Thanksgiving. ONE WEEK. I can do one week. I also am struggling with workouts.. I don’t want to wake up early, each of my kids is usually up at least once a night and then up for the day usually before 6, so I’m tired and I don’t want to get up and workout. I try to convince myself I’ll workout after work but that’s a joke, especially with daylights savings now and it looking like midnight when I get off work. During the day is amazing, but fitting that in is so hard, work has gotten crazy, even if I schedule the time to do it, I usually get pulled into something else. I used to be so good at making this a priority and getting stuff done, but even taking the time out for a half hour walk doesn’t happen…
How do you fit healthy habits into your life?! What are your tips and tricks??? Help.

I work out on the days when I WFH since phil does drop off on those days. They leave around 7 and I usually do a short 3 mile run. My other workouts happen on the weekends. I wish I could get up at 5 and workout but I am also so so tired even though our kids STTN for the most part. I wish we could hire a cleaner but Phil doesn’t want to spend the money. So he does all of the cleaning since he doesn’t want to pay for a service.
