1. We have a house again! We closed on Monday. The movers that moved us in this time were from the same company as before, but this time they sent their A squad. They were really great! The whole process though of dealing with the moving company is a little bizarre though… not as much got broken as we thought but there were still some things that got ruined. We lost a few corningware bake ware, a Pyrex baking dish, a serving dish, some cleaning products that were packed leaked on a bunch of thins, our kitchen table got pretty scratched up since they didn’t protect it at all when going into the pod.

So far, my favorite things about the house are:
- The giant back deck! Especially with the view of the pond
- I love that the bedrooms are not on the same floor as the kitchen
- I love our walk in (sort of) pantry! It leaves so much room for us to have all of our kitchen gadgets not shoved in random kids closets.
- The new TVs that we bought from the sellers. They’re great! We haven’t had a nice new TV since I graduated college! Joel has only had TVs from his roommates so he hadn’t had a nice, new one either.
Some things that I am going to try to finish (besides unpacking boxes!) in the next week:
- Fixing the front door lock – you need to pop the front off to reprogram it, but it’s like cemented to the door…
- Figure out the bathroom ceiling fans. They run continuously… I guess it’s because we don’t have an air to air exchanger so that’s how it moves air through the house. I don’t like it. They were also filthy! I got one of them out and completely disassembled it so I could clean it and it was rough. I need to do the other one as well.

- Black out curtains for Miles’ room! That kid will stay up all night and play with the amount of light in his room!
- Fix Hailey’s blinds. They don’t open and close.
- Fix the front door, the screen door portion where it latches for really bent so it doesn’t really latch, I think I can just bend it back into place (pending I find our tools!)
- Fix the back sliding door. The latch doesn’t lock so we rely on the mechanical bar to lock it. I will just need to adjust that latch.
- Set up our security cameras. I bought a set of blink cameras this time during prime days. A coworker recommend them so we’ll see how we like them! It will be nice to have one in the backyard to catch some of the wildlife back there 🙂
2. The morning of closing was also hectic. I had to go down to the hotel attached to the airport to present for work. I had signed my power of attorney over to Joel so he could sign. They stopped at the house on the way to closing and the seller was still there! We also got some extremely rude messages from his realtor. Left a bad taste in our mouth because up until then, only had positive things to say about it. — but we’re in! And it’s chaos!
I took Monday afternoon off, most of Tuesday off, most of Thursday off and am taking most of today off. Trying to unpack as much as possible while kids are at daycare and before our insanely busy week next week at work with big customer visits!
We got the kitties back on Tuesday and they’re getting used to the house. Joel got most of his garage gym things back yesterday so that part of the garage is coming together.
3. Hailey and I went school shopping for her yesterday! We picked up all the school supplies on her list. She was most excited about getting a new backpack (she chose Hello Kitty!) and the headphones they asked for on the list.
I can’t believe she is off to Kindergarten in only a couple months 😭
4. We also got Miles a new bike, but Hailey immediately confiscated it. I didn’t realize she had outgrown hers! The awesome thing about this new neighborhood is I can let Hailey ride the bike and I’m not a nervous wreck about the traffic!

5. The new neighborhood is great so far!! We’ve met new people, had play dates with new and old friends, and enjoyed playing outside! There are so many kids around us – I think there are 5 kids just around our block that will be going to kindergarten with Hailey in a few months!

I’m glad the move is behind you. But it is very odd that the sellers were still in the house the morning of the closing… it’s normal to do a walk through of the house the morning of the closing and it should be empty/free of the sellers. So strange. But hopefully you do not have to move for a really long time after this. Moving is such a pain!
That is awesome that there are so many young kids on your block!!
