Thanksgiving Day 5k | November 23, 2023
November 23, 2023Book Review | Death on Tap by Ellie Alexander | (Contains Spoilers)
November 24, 2023I don’t spend enough time reflecting on the good things in life enough. It is hectic in our household with a 2 and a 4 year old, so sometimes I don’t acknowledge some of those ‘little’ things. It’s Thanksgiving today, so a perfect time to list out a few of those things I’m thankful for
Kids
- Miles. Our dare devil little man. He is a sweetheart most of the time. When he gets giggling, it is the sweetest sound. He is easy going and is starting to blossom with personality (even though it’s a little whiney and stubborn sometimes). His vocabulary is also growing, making it so fun to talk to him.
- Hailey. Our silly little lady. She is fun to have conversations with now that she is getting older and understanding so much around her. I love that she likes to read. Her creativity is so fun to watch when she is playing and using her imagination.
- Although daycare is so so so expensive, I am thankful that our kids have a safe place to go while we are at work. The teachers there are great with the kids. The kids have learned so much throughout the years.
Family
- Joel. Having little kids makes it hard to remember our husband and wife relationship instead of just mom and dad. I am so thankful that we can go on dates to chat. Joel makes me laugh. He is tolerant of the messes I leave around the house (piles of clean laundry… I will eventually put away). He is the first person I want to tell any story to.
- Joel’s family being close. His family is so great and it’s so awesome that they love to hang out with the kiddos.
- My family. I am so thankful I can call my parents (usually while driving to or from work). I am thankful my brother and sister in law live close and we get to see them – I’m especially thankful that my brother married someone who is one of my best friends now. I am thankful for my new niece and that I got to see her, I wish we lived closer so we could visit more often, but I’m thankful they are within driving distance. I’m thankful for my brother and sister in law and that our relationship gets to grow. I’m thankful my kids are close with their cousins and have so much fun when we go to visit.
Work
- Great bosses – I’m so thankful for my previous boss helping me find more confidence. I’m thankful for my current boss, he is such a genuinely caring person.
- Coworkers that I enjoy working with
- Majority of the people in my group want to make others better
Health
- Although my hip has been bugging me, my overall health is good – I was able to run a 5k this morning, although not what I would once call fast.. but it was a descent pace and my body held up and I could still cruise
- My running friends – they are so special to me
- This blog for mental health… I started it back when I was in college as a way to document random things and running recaps. It has turned into a wonderful journal for me and a way to feel organized and in control.
