Sheesh, how is it already June?
A few weeks ago, we made a very last-minute decision to move. A house came up in a neighborhood we really like, and we decided to go for it. From there, it was a sprint of chaos. We had counter offers, got our offer accepted, and had to get our current house ready to list—fast.
I pulled out the built-ins I had made a few summers ago and replaced them with a much nicer bench setup. Joel was traveling for a pickleball tournament, so his parents jumped in to help in a big way.

My parents were staying with us and helped get some rooms ready to be painted. Joel’s parents painted the deck, and his mom spent all day Sunday helping me pack and declutter. On Monday, she came back and staged the house like a pro.

We went live on the market Thursday morning. That day we had six showings, five more on Friday, and two scheduled for Saturday along with an open house. One of the Thursday showings decided to make an offer, and we accepted it. Another Friday showing was also planning to make an offer, but it would have been the same amount, so we felt great about our decision.
Saturday, we took the kids to the gym. I did an Alpha Endurance class that included a seven-minute row, which was a bit brutal. It had been a while. After Joel finished pickleball, we all went swimming. Then we headed to the Blaine Summer Kickoff where we got food truck lunch, the kids climbed on trucks, and even got to test the siren in a police car. We stopped at Culver’s for ice cream and then went home for naps (well… I napped, the kids don’t have time to relax). That evening, we took the kids to Parents Night Out at Lifetime and had a date night. We grabbed pizza at Boston’s and cookies from Crumbl. Sleeping in our own beds after all that felt amazing.

Sunday was another full day. Joel took the kids to the gym, and I walked over to meet them for lunch at Noodles & Company after getting a few things done around the house before the new carpet came Monday. After lunch, Joel dropped us off, and I took the kids to his parents’ house so they could watch them while I headed to the June Bookstagram meetup in the Cities. It was even more fun because one of my friends from our first-time moms class came too.

After the meetup, I joined Cristina and her family for dinner at Lagos Tacos. It was delicious. The weekend wrapped up with the finishing getting ready for the carpet install (which ended up taking until Tuesday) and making the house a huge mess… but not too much of a mess for a home inspection on Thursday. Thankfully, we passed with flying colors and just need a quick tune-up on the furnace.
Before and after of the new carpet! It looks MUCH brighter in person, I promise 🙂
