June Summer Weekend

It was a looooong week with work. The kids had to hang out at my office for a bit Wednesday night after swimming lessons so I could finish up some things for an offset we had on Thursday. The kids love running through the halls and they even saw a rainbow out the window!

Joel and I were able to get lunch together Friday, which was really nice. We got all you can eat sushi. After work Friday, I was lucky to be able to meet up for happy hour with a couple of coworkers. The weather was perfect for a drink on the patio. I went home and got the kiddos to bed and then went back to meet up with another friend.

Saturday morning, Miles was up super early.. again. We went to the gym so the kids could play a bit while Joel had pickleball. I drank some coffee and worked in the cafe. After the gym, I took the kiddos to Blaine City Hall for their summer kick off event. It was live music and a kid’s garage sale (we bought some toys for the kids…), food trucks, tents, and a touch a truck event. Miles was so tired but got a second wind. Joel met us there and took Hailey to a grad party while Miles and I walked around the event and then headed home to attempt quiet time. He was so tired, I thought he would fall right asleep… but he definitely did not.

Joel and Hailey got home and she wanted to ride her bike to the park, so they did that before coming in. The kids got changed into swimsuits and we went over to the Lakes to play in the splashpad and in the lake. It was a lot of fun watching the kids run around, until Hailey fell and got hurt. We got some pizza for dinner and the kids watched some TV and could barely keep their eyes open. Hailey wanted to sleep in Miles room again, and we caved and let her. Of course, they got second winds and played a bunch in Miles’s room.

I headed out early to beat the heat and got in 12 miles with my new shoes. I went with the Saucony Triumph this time. It was the first time in a long time I felt really good almost the whole time! After the run, Joel took the kids to the gym so I could work some more at home. He got home and then headed out for pickleball. The kids ate some lunch and then we needed to find something to do. I took them to the Como Zoo.

We parked offsite at their shuttle lot – that was fantastic! The parking scene over there was nuts so it was nice to not have to worry about that. The kids loved riding the bus. Comments from Haiely during the bus ride that made me smile – “When we bump it makes my house wiggle” “mommy that’s where Santa goes in to give us presents” (pointing at a chimney).

We went to see the gorillas first and Miles was so excited. Then we watched the sea lion show. It was pretty good! Miles attention span was not there, so thankfully it was a pretty short show. We went and saw the lions and tigers and then walked back passed the gorillas on the way out. Hailey really wanted to ride the carousel, so we did. It was a little loud, so Miles didn’t love that part. Hailey loved going up and down on her horse.

We got back on the shuttle to our car and headed out. We stopped at the Shoreview park for a little bit to let the kiddos run some more. They were pooped and overtired, they barely made it to bed time!

I watched a little too much Tik Tok this weekend and had a little aha moment based on one of the videos that said she didn’t like her digital planners hyperlinked. I made a layout in Excel with what feels like is all I need for my weekly spreads for now… Stay tuned!
