Friday morning my alarm went off at 5 am, time to head to the airport! I was supposed to fly to Houston at 9am and needed to avoid rush traffic. I get there feeling excited, knowing I would be in Little Rock by 2. My flight is delayed a couple minutes but nothing to worry about. GOOD: in the line at Caribou in the airport, I was behind the U of M baseball catcher, they had vouchers to use and since he couldn’t find anything else he wanted to buy, he bought my latte. We go through the boarding process and are all seated and ready to go when they say we are having some mechanical issues and should be a few minutes. A few minutes go buy and we’re still sitting. BAD: we all get deplaned due to parking brake issues… I will miss the connecting flight to Little Rock in Houston and won’t make it to Little Rock that night. GOOD: they get me on a flight to Chicago at 150 that will get me to Little Rock by 6, still enough time to get my packet for the 5k Saturday. Whew. I then have lunch with Jen who was heading to Dallas for a cheerleading competition. I say bye to them and head to my gate. I get a call from my dad. BAD: global services just called and my flight is delayed until 3 so I will miss my connection to Little Rock. GOOD: he got me on the last flight to Little Rock that gets in at 10. Good: Tracy was able to pick up my packets.
5k:
The 5k was a blast! Ran with another Marathon Maniac and ran nice and easy. It was gloomy, but it was fun.
After cleaning up, Tracy and I had breakfast and then toured some of the sites.
Marathon:
The day started out pretty darn cold and rainy. There was an ice storm coming so Christine and Mark didn’t end up getting to come to Arkansas. I started with the 4:25 pacer. They decided to do waves with the corrals and it ended up being about 20 minutes before we got to start. Ran with Marie the pacer the whole time. Right before the 20 mile mat, the weather conditions signs turned to black, saying that the marathon was cancelled. They came over the intercoms telling us to make our way to the bus.
