Memorial Day Weekend | 2024

Thursday

Thursday, after work, Dan and Sheri got the kids from daycare so I picked them up. Miles opened some presents while they were over there. He was so excited about presents! He got some stuff from Leah and Jordan, and I told him to say thank you so I could send a video. He was a little confused so he looked at Sheri and said thank you – so I told him to look at the camera and say thank you… so he looks over at my phone and says “Thank you camera!”, it was so cute!

He love the Spiderman costume that he got, but Hailey confiscated that pretty quickly and wanted a turn.

I also got him a shirt that says “Just a boy who loves gorillas” because.. he is 🙂

Friday

Friday, I went to lunch with a couple of my coworkers before coming home to work for the afternoon. Sort of last minute, we decided to have a couple of his friends over for pizza and cupcakes for his bday. The house was chaos, but oh so fun.

Saturday

Saturday, I went for a long run early in the morning. I was planning to do 18 (hah….) so I did 10 before meeting up with Club Run. But then didn’t want to run anymore… so did a 5 mile walk instead, which was lovely. At this point, I guess just trying to get time on my feet is good, right?

Joel met me with the kids at the park so that he could play with them a little before his pickleball tournament. The park was having an event where they had a salamander a toad for the kids to look at. Miles was pretty scared of them, but Hailey was really into it, and was touching the salamander. After running, the club went out for breakfast at Fat Nats. I took the kids with and we had some breakfast. It was pretty crowded so I sat with the kids and my Running friend Julie that I’ve known for a decade. It was lovely to catch up with her.

After breakfast, we went home and I showered, and then we headed to Joel’s Pickleball tournament to watch him. We were able to stay until about the semi’s around six when Miles started getting antsy, so we headed home. Joel ended up getting second place!

Sunday

Sunday morning, Joel took Hailey to target to get some groceries and then I took the kids to the park so he could clean up before pickle ball tournament. I met with my friend Alyssa and her family at the park to play for a couple hours before taking the kids to watch Joel play again, we headed back to the house and hung out for a bit until Joel’s cousins family got here and the kids played and stayed up later than normal. With the sleeping arrangement, Hailey ended up sleeping in Miles room with him and it was surprising how well that actually went.

Monday

It rained most of the morning so the kids ran around the house and played. They did pretty good together all day! Joel and Russ lifted in the garage while Michelle and I chatted and folded some laundry. I went for a 5ish mile run to delivery pickleball paddles to Shaun. It was a little rainy.. but felt good!

I showered and we helped get everyone packed up and then headed over to Dan and Sheri’s for dinner with the rest of the family. The kids ran around and had a great time. We had delicious food and an ice cream bar for dessert to celebrate Jordie’s bday.

I brought the kids home and they wanted to sleep in Miles’ room again together, so I let them 🙂
