Monthly Reads | June 2025

June was a good reading month for me! I finished 10 books, totaling 1,429 pages and almost 24 hours of audiobook time. A lot of that listening happened during the last half of Grandma’s Half Marathon, the drive home, and the hours of packing the house up for the move.

9 of the 10 books I read were actually ARC reviews, which surprises me! My average rating came out to 3.7 stars.

I also surprised myself with 2 non fiction books. Mysteries were my main genre, as always.

Highest Rated Reads:

  • Mrs. Plansky’s Revenge by Spencer Quinn — 4.5⭐ This was such a fun, smart mystery. Mrs. Plansky is officially one of my new favorite amateur sleuths.
  • The Can-Do Mindset by Candace Parker — 4.5⭐ I loved hearing Candace narrate her own story. Even if you’re not a basketball fan, her journey is so inspiring and authentic.
  • Everyone in the Group Chat Dies by L.M. Chilton — 4⭐ A very engaging read.. not sure I would consider it a cozy?

A few other standouts this month:

Dead of Summer by Jessa Maxwell (4⭐) — loved the eerie island setting and all the secrets.

The Salmon Cannon and the Levitating Frog by Carly Anne York (4⭐) — fun and quirky nonfiction about “silly” science that actually changes the world.

The Unraveling of Julia by Lisa Scottoline (3.75⭐) — a solid thriller with a few unexpected turns, although I could do without the paranormal aspect.

On the lower end, Julie Chan Is Dead didn’t quite work for me (2.5⭐). The premise was fun, but I struggled to connect with it.

Overall, June felt like a really strong reading month.
