May was a decent reading month, but definitely not a “new favorite books” month.
I finished 8 books, with 1,265 pages, 21.22 hours listened, and an average rating of 3.31 stars. So basically, I read a lot, but I didn’t really love anything.
A big theme this month was ARCs. Five of the eight books I read were ARCs, and I have yet to review any…
Christmas books also officially started, which feels both wrong and correct. I read A Killer for Christmas and Home for the Homicides, and honestly, they were so similar. Both holiday mysteries, both very murder-at-Christmas, both going to a Christmas themed town, both fine. I liked them, but I also kept thinking, “Wait, did I already read this?”
My biggest surprise of the month was probably Killer Vibes. I was not totally sure about it going in because it had more of a stoner vibe, but it was actually good.
The two Carley Fortune books, This Summer Will Be Different and One Golden Summer, were both for book club. They were fine, lighthearted, summery reads. I didn’t dislike them, but they also didn’t fully grab me.
Overall, May was a very solid-but-not-amazing reading month. Lots of mysteries, a couple summery romances, Christmas showing up way too early, and a pile of ARC reviews waiting for me.
