Moving is so much work.. I had initially planned to do majority of it our ourselves. I got one pod and was planning to load that up and then get a second pod and then hire movers to get the big stuff put in there. Unfortunately, (maybe fortunately) I ended up with a pretty good cough and cold last week which really deterred our progress of doing it alone. I caved and called the movers to see if they could help with packing up things and getting our first pod filled.
It wasn’t cheap but they got through so much of the house and packed that pod so tight! They were at the house for about 4 hours and got so much done. It really helped the stress levels knowing that progress had been made. Although, there was definitely some added stress. Between us not labeling the things to keep as well as we should have and some sticky notes falling off, things did get packed that we didn’t want to in this round – all of our shoes, Joel’s work clothes, ALL of the kids clothes.

I had to make a run to Walmart to buy a few outfits for the kids and some flip flops. Joel’s pickleball shoes got packed, which was probably the biggest bummer in there.
We had the pod picked up Wednesday and are getting our second one on Monday. This weekend, my brother is coming up to help move some things. We hope to get the garage packed up on Joel’s parent’s trailer to store at their house. I want to get we many boxes packed as possible, every box I pack is less we have to pay the movers as they charge by the hour. Unfortunately, it’s looking like a hot and humid weekend ahead!
Here’s to hoping the rest of this move goes smoothly!

Moving is SO hard and stressful, and it feels all consuming for a long time! We moved into this house in fall 2023 and it still feels very fresh, so I am sending you lots of good thoughts for this transition!
