It has been almost two weeks since I graduated. It was definitely an experience! Lots of emotions, saying bye to amazing friends and teachers and mentors but getting to say hello to amazing people up in the tundra of Minneapolis. I found a cozy little townhome (not so little) in Plymouth, just northwest of the cities. It has an attached garage and a nice patio that opens out into a lot of grass for the dogs. The move went pretty smoothly thanks to all of the help from my friends and family!

Bailey got his teeth cleaned on Monday and found out that he has ‘basset hound mouth’. He has a severe overbite that was making his canines puncture holes into his palette, causing infections and lots of extra tissue growth. After I picked him up from his ‘surgery’ he was so loopy! It was actually pretty adorable.

I went and got my University of Saint Thomas ID the other day. That was an adventure. It felt so strange to be walking on that campus, it felt so big. I guess it’s because I don’t now anybody there. I start class – Finite Element Analysis – on May 31st. It meets on Thursday nights through August. The traffic situation is RIDICULOUS! It takes forever to get there due to all of the congestion. That’s one thing I’m not looking forward to up here, the traffic. Hopefully I get used to it someday.

This morning I went to get my Minnesota driver’s license, 100% on the written exam! They will be sending me my license in the mail within 3 weeks. Crazy. I am a Minnesota resident now. I think it’s starting to become real. It’s going to be even more real when I start my job June 4. They fly me out to Columbus, Indiana for the week for onboarding and then I start the following week working on marine generator sets. I got called a couple weeks ago by my boss to tell me I will no longer be working on the residential sets that they had planned but will be helping implement new engines in the marine sets and will be taking charge of PSR by August.. scary! Until then I started running more now that I have time and don’t have to worry about studying. Last night we did 8 miles with 5 miles at marathon pace – I made it, barely. I’m not used to pushing myself lately. It will be fun to get back into though! I also started the INSANITY workout last week. Boy is that hard. I already feel stronger though!
