August 8, 2022I like the stories that the author brought in from real life examples. The examples were described and then broken down on how they were relative to the chapter. Although, from a personal standpoint and trying to connect, the stories did make that a little more challenging since I couldn’t relate to all of the details.
This book was a great blend between the technical descriptions of what is going on in the brain (especially in the early years as it is forming and developing) and real world stories. This book peaked my interest working in deep brain stimulation for years and trying to understand the brain and helped to understand where a lot of my own anxiety might stem from. I think the biggest take away was how important the early years can be to development of baseline anxiety, which made me more aware of ways to make small changes that might set my kids up for a less anxious path.
I listened to the audio book – it was well paced but it was a little monotone for an already heavy topic.
Thanks RB Media and NetGalley for the advanced listen!
