It’s Wednesday and I had planned to write this on Sunday… so it’s basically the weekend again with the 4th falling on a Thursday this year…
We had a great weekend last weekend, keeping super busy!
Friday
Friday after work, I took Hailey to the Blaine Fest while Joel took Miles to the park to play. Hailey was fascinated by the rides! I bought ride tickets and we went on the swing ride that goes around…. at one point, I slammed into her swing.. It was not my favorite thing. Hailey seemed to enjoy it at first but then not so much.
We went into the little obstacle course with the blow up slide. I had to go the first time with Hailey because she was a little scared but then she loved it.

Saturday
Joel took the kids to the gym so that I could relax a little bit. I picked the kids up from the gym and took them to watch the Blainefest parade. We got there early and had a picnic so we could make sure we had a spot. Joel picked up Chipotle for me and him to eat, but Miles dug into mine too! It was nice and cloudy out so not too hot. The kiddos loved waving at the trucks. They didn’t like the loud sirens and weren’t huge fans of the marching bands because they were too loud. They absolutely loved picking up candy – although, a lot of people were out of candy by the time they got to us. Joel went home and I took the kiddos to the park to play for a few minutes before heading to Blainefest again.

I took the kids to Blainefest and let them go on a few rides. They loved doing the obstacle course things together and had so much fun on the bumble bee ride. The ride tickets were so expensive! They had a blast just playing at the playground, so next year, I might spend less on the rides and just let them run around.

After hanging out there for an hour or so, we went home to meet Joel to go to his parent’s house for his dad’s birthday. It was chilly out, but that didn’t deter the kids from playing in the water!!

Sunday
Joel took the kids to the gym Sunday morning so I could run and lift from home. I started a new lifting program! After the gym, he went down to a friend’s house to play pickleball in their backyard.
I found a 3.5 feet tall princess barbie house on our local Buy Nothing site and was chosen to pick it up (although I’m sure Joel would rather not have had me chosen). The kids are loving playing with in now.
We drove down to Bloomington to go to the Hyland Park Reserve to play for a bit. The kids loved it for a while but Miles skinned his knee and got hurt so we left a little earlier than planned.

We stopped at a thrift store to pick up some toys for the kiddos and got a couple of shirts as well. Miles picked out a toy whale and a monster truck toy. Hailey picked out a Peppa Pig stuffed animal and a toy canary thing. These came in clutch as we were heading to a restaurant for a surprise homecoming party for Tucker

It was adorable – when Miles saw Tucker, he got a huge grin on his face and kept whispering “Tucker…” and was so excited to give him a giant home. It was great to hang out and I chatted a bit with Tucker’s Navy sponsor – it was a wonderful evening!
