Sioux Falls Trip | September 2024

We left Friday morning to head to Sioux Falls. We stopped the McDonalds about an hour in. The kids played for a bit and Hailey actually loved eating their breakfast! Just a sausage McMuffin with no cheese. We stopped a few times and finally rolled in to Sioux Falls around lunch time.

We stopped at Walmart to pick up a present for cousin A for her bday and then met my brother and his family and my mom and dad at Hu Hot for lunch. Gosh I love that place. The kids loved watching them cook the food.

After HuHot, we headed back to their house and the kids played a bit. I finished some work and called into a meeting and then we headed to the trampoline park to burn off some energy. The kids LOVED it.

We grabbed some take out for dinner and watched Tucker do his Ju jitsu match on the TV. The kiddos did not want to go to bed! I finally got them to sleep around 930/10, kind of, Miles just wanted to play… and then Miles or Hailey was up every hour.

Saturday morning, the kids were up early (go figure) so I snuck out to get coffee. The kids ran around a bit in the house but then we found an apple orchard that was having a superhero and princess meet and greet. We took the kiddos there and ended up staying for about 3 hours! The kids played – they loved the dried corn pit the best – and ran around. We went out to the orchard to pick apples. It did get sneakily warm…. so it was nice to be able to sit in the shade for some lunch.

The superheroes and princesses were a hit! They got there right around 1 and we, thankfully, were one of the first in line. The line got LONG fast. Miles was STOKED to see spidey. He showed him his shirt and shorts with Spidey on them. Hailey said her favorites were Anna and Elsa. Lily was really excited to see Tiana so she got a picture wth them as well.

We went back to Toby’s house and I got the kiddos in the bath because they were diiiirrrryyyyyy. After bath time, Andrea and I made a trip to Walmart and Hyvee to get stuff for apple pie and apple crisp, they turned out great!

Family photo!

My parents came over for dinner and Toby headed downtown to pick up some good food. I got the kids to bed earlier than the night before but had to lay with them to get them to stay down there.

Sunday morning, I went and grabbed coffee, and when I got back Hailey was coughing a bit so we decided to pack up and leave quickly so that we woudn’t get anyone sick on the off chance Hailey had something.

We made the drive back and met Mom and Dad in Worthington for breakfast, and then we stopped probably every half hour to 45 minutes. We got back to the cities and stopped at the park for play… for about 10 minutes because it was way too hot out. I got the kids back to the house and we then went to half price book store to sell some books and buy some new ones. Then we wandered around Kohls and had Noodles and Company for dinner. The kids went to bed and I packed a little for my upcoming trip but was ready for bed after an activity packed weekend!
