Thanksgiving Weekend 2023

Thursday morning I ran the Blaine Thanksgiving Day 5k. Joel hung out with the kids at the house and played with them. After the race, I came home and started cooking some bread and muffins.

When it was close to nap time, Joel took the kiddos over to his parents house so Miles could nap over there and we could hang out. He struggled a bit to fall asleep but eventually did.

I finished baking and cutting up fruit at our house and then drove over separately.

Miles woke up from his nap – a very grumpy little guy. He stayed grumpy for the rest of the evening (until just after we got home). We had to keep a phone on Paw Patrol the entire time just to keep him in a tolerable mood. The phone also had to be propped up perfectly right in front of his face, otherwise it was a disaster.

Everyone arrived and we ate dinner around 3ish. It was such a delicious spread and the pie was fantastic, even if it put me into a food coma.

The kids played a bit longer and we helped clean up a little bit before heading home and getting the kids in bed at around their normal bedtime. Joel and I rented the Barbie movie and started that after the kids went to bed.

Friday morning, I went to the 7:30am Orange Theory class and Joel brought the kiddos to daycare. I had to duck out early, my good hip (although not sure I can call it that anymore.. since it’s been irritated for weeks now) started to get very angry. I grabbed coffee for me and Joel from Caribou (I messed up and ordered an iced drink for Joel, but the worker was so incredibly nice and made me a hot one too and had me keep the iced one). Joel and I drank coffee and finished watching the Barbie movie (I RECOMMEND!)

We got to do a family outing with most of Joel’s family at Top Golf. We rented a bay for a couple of hours and had lunch there. There were 6 of us, but it actually was a good number to be able to chat and eat.

I am terrible at golfing – my softball swing is not helpful for hitting a golf ball well. Joel’s dad helped me adjust my grip on the club a bit, which helped me a bunch at getting better. We played a game of Angry Birds, which was really fun for me since I actually could sort of hit where they wanted me to (I was playing at the beginner level) and get some points.

After Top Golf, we went to the house. Joel did a workout and I snuggled onto the couch to read my book and take a nice long nap. We got the kids a little earlier than normal and took them to Target to pick up a couple of groceries and let them run through the aisles.

I could not fall asleep – the kids were up a couple of times that prolonged me going to bed… I just ended up staying up til about midnight reading and playing on my blog trying to figure out how to reduce some of the memory I have been taking up.

Saturday morning, Joel headed off to Pickleball and I took the kids Home Depot to do the Kid Workshop. The kids made Penguin ornaments. After the craft we went to Costco and had lunch and did some shopping. We headed to dinner after quiet time at Pezzo and got pizza. I went to the bar to meet up with some friends afterwards.

Sunday I went running with my running club. We made cookies and decorated them. The city held a holiday event where they lit the town hall tree and had other little things throughout the city hall. There was a little scavenger hunt that Hailey enjoyed. We did some crafts and then headed home so Joel could get ready to head to Pickleball.
