This past week wasn’t exactly as productive as I’d hoped. I started feeling sick on Monday, so I worked from home on Tuesday and Wednesday, trying to recover. Thursday, I had to go into the office for a couple of big meetings, and while I managed to get through them, it wasn’t easy. I had signed up for a workout class that night, optimistically assuming I’d be feeling better, but I ended up skipping it. Unfortunately, it was outside the cancellation window, so I received a lovely scolding email from the gym (whoops).
Midweek, the kids had their swimming lessons, and Joel had pickleball, so I met them there to take the kids home. I was definitely not up for cooking or much of anything, so we made a stop at McDonald’s. The kids had a blast at the play place, and we grabbed Happy Meals before heading straight home and into bed. Sometimes, you just need those easy evenings.
Friday was much more fun; we went to a friend’s house for some pumpkin painting and dinner. The kids loved running around and playing with new toys, so the pumpkin painting ended up being more of a background activity. They didn’t mind, though, and honestly, they seemed to enjoy the running around much more!
Saturday, I pushed myself a bit and joined Moms on the Run for a workout. It felt great to move, but my heart rate and lungs were still feeling the effects of being sick. In the afternoon, Joel had pickleball again, so I decided to take the kids to the library. I thought it was a good opportunity for Miles to wear undies—potty training is in full swing, and I’m determined to get him to use the potty, especially for #2. He did go at the library, which was great… except he wasn’t quite done. Let’s just say I ended up throwing away both his undies and shorts. After that, he kept going through undies (of course). We grabbed some books, then made a stop at Walmart for some new undies and pants, since I realized we were low on his size. We ended the outing at a different library that has more activities, where the kids played while I tried to read. I spent most of the time making sure Miles didn’t turn into the Hulk, climbing or smashing things. We had pizza for dinner and called it an early night.
Sunday morning, Joel took the kids to the gym to run around while I took some time for myself and did my nails (see pic!). Joel has pickleball this afternoon, so I’m figuring out some low-key activities for the kiddos that don’t involve tablets—still not feeling 100%, so hopefully, it’s something chill.

I’m heading to Chicago on Tuesday for a conference where I’m giving a presentation (eek!), so fingers crossed I feel better by then!
