An intimate, behind-the-scenes, richly illustrated celebration of beloved The Office co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey’s friendship, and an insiders’ view of Pam Beesly, Angela Martin, and the unforgettable cast of the hit series’ iconic characters. Featuring many never-before-seen photos.
Receptionist Pam Beesly and accountant Angela Martin had very little in common when they toiled together at Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But, in reality, the two bonded in their very first days on set and, over the nine seasons of the series’ run, built a friendship that transcended the show and continues to this day. Sharing everything from what it was like in the early days as the show struggled to gain traction, to walking their first red carpet—plus exclusive stories on the making of milestone episodes and how their lives changed when they became moms—The Office BFFs is full of the same warm and friendly tone Jenna and Angela have brought to their Office Ladies podcast.
My Review
There were a lot of emotions in this book. Jenna and Angela did a great job of telling stories and building off of each other’s memories. It was incredibly relatable when their relationship was strained after one of them had their first child. It is a challenging time in most friendships, so it was refreshing to hear honest stories about them trying to navigate through this in their friendship. When they both were moms, their relationship was ever better – Angela even talking to her neighbors to do trick or treating days early so that Jenna wouldn’t miss taking her kids out.
A few of my favorite stories: the bus scene! I can’t believe all of the crazy stuff that happened while shooting on the bus, especially almost getting carbon monoxide poisoning. The shooting on the boat and so many getting sea sick — and then when Pam and Jim were having ‘the kiss scene’, a boat of other people were lost at sea! The wedding story on the boat at Niagara Falls was so interesting – that they had to keep going out to get different shots because the boating company wouldn’t allow them to change course and only let them have the front of the boat.
This book was a very fast read. I haven’t seen all episodes of The Office, but it didn’t really matter. I do think you should have seen SOME to enjoy this book. I would absolutely recommend this book.
